Background on

Appott

Appott stands for "A Piano Piece on Twelve Tones".

This was my first attempt to write a 12-tone work. And I feel quite satisfied with the result.

After its first draft/writing, my composition teacher at Oklahoma Baptist University, the late Dr. Arthur Wolff, gave me some ideas to spark a little more confusion and surprise into the work. His suggestions were incorporated.

I have performed this work many times both here in the United State and abroad. My favorite performance was at City Hall (equivalent to Carnegie Hall) in Hong Kong in 1967 as part of a Far East concert tour by the OBU Chorale.

This performance is a computer/sequencer performance.
